Graduate Record Examinations

Taking the graduate record examinations is a major step towards securing your place in a top graduate school for non-management subjects. The GRE exam has been developed as a precise indicator of academic ability and knowledge base. The GRE testing program includes a GRE general test and a number of subject tests in various disciplines.

Test Overview

There are three sections on the GRE test: quantitative ability, verbal ability, and analytical writing. The questions in the quantitative ability section are at approximately a ninth-grade level. The GRE verbal ability section tests basic proficiency in the English language, while the analytical writing section tests your ability to compose a clear and thoughtful response to a simple topic.

The verbal and quantitative tests each yield a separate score between 200 and 800, with 1600 in total. There are two analytical writing tasks, with each awarded a grade ranging from 0-6, with 6 being the highest possible score. The total test time will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
